Picture Roundup

I always try to have my camera handy so I can snap pictures of my boys doing cute things...or really just doing things and leaving "cuteness" to the eye of the beholder.

I need to be cleaning the bathrooms, kitchen, my desk, and myself but thought I'd post a few pics from the last few weeks and procrastinate my chores for a few more minutes.  Because of course it is Saturday and Saturdays should be for cute pictures and not chores (but I'm not telling my kids that until they are much older!)

The ONE smiling picture of Weston that I've been able to catch...and it was with my phone and off-centered...but he is smiling!

One last time to play in the rain before it gets too cold!

Look Mom!  I'm standing (and trying to help you with the dishes!)

Now these next pictures were another attempt to get a Christmas card worthy picture of my two boys.  You can see my last attempt in this here.  You can see for yourself how successful I was!

"Smile! Look at Momma! Smile! Look at Momma!  Oh well!"

Here's to a picture-perfect Saturday!
Happy Weekend!

Say Cheese!

Where did the phrase "Say cheese!" originate from?  Anybody know?!?

I kind of regret teaching my toddler to say that word when I'm trying to take his picture.  Actually I'm not completely to blame.  His furry red friend Elmo is partly to blame, because Weston has watched the Elmo's World "Cameras" episode at least 85,000 times where he also picked up this little word.

Because I'm such a ridiculous planner, I've been thinking about the picture(s) for our Christmas card for a few weeks.  I thought about getting a professional to take some pics then I remembered our budget :) so the next best option would be to pay a friend who is good with a camera to take a few pictures.  Still I'm not quite sold on the idea because I have a little problem - a toddler who will say cheese (which equals a contorted grin-type thing!) but will NOT look at the camera!

Last Sunday I had Weston dressed in this precious little sweater vest.  He looked like a little man!  It was overcast outside (which equals great lighting) and William was sleeping so I figured I'd take Weston outside and try to catch a few good pics!

After I looked at the pics all I could do was laugh!  This is what I got...

Did you see his "Cheese" smile?!?  My favorite pic is the fifth one down.  That is the "I'm sick and tired of this mommy and I want you to stop telling me to look at the camera" face. :)

His brother, on the other hand, has no trouble with our mother/son photo shoots.  He always gives me lots of to work with...

Maybe William can teach his brother a thing or two!  Here's to hoping!

And here's to a smile-filled weekend!
Happy Friday!

Momma's Little Helper

If you saw my little video on my FB page or have met my sweet toddler then you are aware that he is a rather verbal child.  I know that is shocking to no one who is acquainted with his parents :)!

I thought I'd share a couple of funny conversations we have had today.

(Mom enters Weston's room to find him reading books with his pet moose.  An empty Huggies wipe container is sitting next to them.)
Mom: Weston!  Why are ALL your wipes wadded up in the trash can?
Weston: Moose need new diaper.  Wipe bomen! (toddlerese for bottom)
(The last statement was said with a rather teenagerish tone)
(Wipes are then fished out of the trash can and shoved back into the container.)

(Picture after the conversation and mom's help to finish the job)

(Mom walks into the living room from the kitchen because silence has fallen upon the room.  Usually that means trouble.  She finds William in the midst of eating a playing card from the Iraqi War Criminals deck, and she finds Weston arranging DVDs on the couch.)
Mom:  Weston, what are you playing with?
Weston: DBDs
Mom:  What are you doing with them?
Weston: DBD's messy.  Weston fix!

(The original source of the DVDs and now they are fixed.)

Taking care of our animals and our entertainment!  What would I do without him!?!

Here's to a happy and talkative weekend,
Rebecca

A week in the life of...

If you know me at all then you probably are aware that I enjoy having a bit of structure in my life.  Some people might call it Type A...I just call it Blessed Organization :)!  I'm pretty sure that even my spontaneity is planned!

Well at the Corleyrosa we have some things that happen each and every week.  (If you occasionally do read this little blog then it is obvious that blogging is not one of those weekly activities :)! )

A trip the library - I would like to say it is because my boys love literature and learning and long to sit and read all day.  But really it is for the puzzles and cool train table. Oh well!

Mom's Bible Study at Grace Fellowship - I always preface this trip by saying something like this to Weston, "Guess what bud?  We are going to go to church and play with your friends and eat animal crackers!!  Doesn't that sound like fun?!?"  (Note: It is important to not mention the word nursery in this conversation.  We avoid that word :) )  Even with that description Weston's weekly response is usually, "I like library."  Translated from Toddlerese: Lets go to the library instead.  Oh well!

A trip to the Park - Really it is the playground but Weston says park much easier so we just leave it at that!  This is a magical place...slides, swings, little pieces of rubber tire used as "fill dirt" that toddlers like to collect and leave in random places (or at least my toddler).  We love to meet friends here!  The McCalls and McKinnons and some of our favorites :)!  The only way to get Weston to leave this magical place without a breakdown is the promise of apple juice and cheddar goldfish that await him in the car!  We don't leave the house without a bag of cheddar goldfish :)!

And a week at the Corleyrosa would not be complete without garbage pickup!  Since we live out in the country we pay the mother/son team at Macon Sanitation to haul our garbage away.  It takes about 5-7 minutes for them to get our trash and our neighbors (slow truck, gravel roads, etc.)  Not only do I appreciate this day because they tote off the 300 lbs of dirty diapers that we have produced, but for that 5-7 minutes I don't have to worry about Weston and what he might be doing.  I know he will be planted on the front porch in his Elmo chair watching the show.  And this show, like our ABC Elmo DVD that we have watched 100 times, never gets old :)!

Here's to Blessed Organization,
Rebecca
